Falling Asleep at Assemblies
by LouBelle inyes i have dozed off many times when i used to attend.
most of the time kept the shades on as we used to have outside assemblies.
the thing was not to slide off the chair, drop your head forward or snore.. i've seen some brothers/sister hitting a serious lean to the left or right as they slept and then they'd jerk awake, only to lean again.. some people had sneaky methods.

An apostate experiment - what would happen?
by slimboyfat inwhat would happen if a copy of crisis of conscience and a short well-written covering letter were sent to every single jehovah's witness worldwide?
i realise this is not practical and probably dubious morally, but that is not the point of my question.
call it a thought experiment if you will.

I agree with Danielp.. I got on the internet and read Franz and others only when I had already made up my mind that I didn't consider myself a JW anymore. The info I read helped me to see that I wasn't crazy for feeling this way after all.
But as a diehard JW I would never have read apostate literature.

GB sidles out of 1919 and puts 1914 in the bin. (WT study.)!!
by hamsterbait inhas anybody noticed in many recent watchtowers that christ is now said to have "turned his attention to the earth in 1914.".
unlike the 60's they do not say christ "came" in 1914. the "proclaimers book " p137 says the bible students came to discern that "christ did not return, (even invisibly), in 1914.".
the way is now paved.

Yes its a good spoof....on the May 15, 2010 issue...
I think HB thinks we're a bunch of Hamsters and he's the Hamsterbait!
But I agree that this is what the new light will probably come to eventually... problem is, they probably can't get 2/3 majority yet on the GB to decide on what the new light will be!

Don't understand a WT teaching? It's probably not important anyway:
by easyreader1970 infrom august 1, 1980 wt:.
is some point we have trouble in understanding really important?
does it affect the truly important things we have learned with the help of the "slave" class?

. Is some point we have trouble in understanding really important?
Great quote er70...
Take the blood issue.. if someone you loved died from not taking blood or pre-2001 not accepting a previously prohibited blood fraction, then 'don't worry about it... What the slave has taught you is much more important than your silly little dead loved one...'
Yeah, right...

Names have been changed. Why?
by easyreader1970 inthe only time that the watchtower publication uses the real name of a person mentioned is when it's some biographical experience that is the entire article.
anytime a witness is quoted in an article or other publication, they always include a footnote.
"i studied medicine because i wanted to use my life to help people.

"I started going to college because I wanted to make something of myself," says Greg, who grew up in poverty*. "Little did I know that my professors would try to make me think for myself and use worldly logic to reason." *Name has been changed.
Update on Greg, whose name was changed: (Overheard at Howell Street Congregation service meeting*) "We have an announcement tonight, friends. Greg W_______ is longer one of Jehovah's Witnesses" *Congregation name has been changed

MOST of you are too afraid to tell the ones you love your real feelings, you owe them and yourselves better. It's this fear that ruins lives, and the fact this fear keeps us that know better from uniting and destroying this enemy, that's is what sickens me the most.
Dawg: I think we should start a thread about this...(don't want to hijack this one)... It seems like the consensus on this board is to be overly cautious and not tell your loved ones how you feel. I've been warned to slow down and not be as bold as I am in speaking to my family and others. My stance seems to throw some JWDers for a loop....
